Thomas Riesner

Thomas Riesner, a German artist, was born in Leipzig in 1971, where he still resides. He is a self-taught artist who began painting in 1990, using mediums such as acrylics, ink, and drypoint etching. His style, which he calls "abstract figuration," evolved from his early tendency towards abstract art in elementary school.

He is associated with the Outsider art movement, creating intuitive and spontaneous works often with dark motifs. Riesner has participated in various exhibitions and won a cover art competition for Thieme Verlag in 2007 and 2015.

Autodidatta, ha iniziato a dipingere nel 1990 utilizzando tecniche e materiali come acrilico, inchiostro e acquaforte a puntasecca. Il suo stile, che definisce “figurazione astratta”, si è sviluppato a partire dalla sua precoce inclinazione verso l’arte astratta già durante gli anni della scuola elementare.

Associato al movimento dell’Outsider Art, realizza opere intuitive e spontanee, spesso caratterizzate da atmosfere e motivi oscuri. Nel corso della sua carriera ha partecipato a numerose mostre e ha vinto il concorso per la realizzazione della copertina della casa editrice Thieme Verlag nel 2007 e nuovamente nel 2015.
